New piece for Masthead Print Studio's 'White Trash America' show opening Saturday, December 17th in Philadelphia. I feel like this will probably be the most friendly piece in regards to the theme - but I like it! Click here to view it larger.
I'm the star of the new hit series "It's Always Snowing in Minneapolis". Not really - but it has been delightfully flurrying for the past few days! In honor of December, the upcoming holidays, and winter merriment please enjoy this snowglobe GIF. It was the least I could do.
I can finally share the e-card design I did for the November issue of Real Simple Magazine. The illustration is featured in the magazine, and online. For more information on how you can send the e-card out for free to your friends and family check it out here. It was a super fun project to work on, and I'm thrilled to work with such an awesome publication!
As the holiday season approaches I'm able to share more of the work I did over the Summer (which seems like just yesterday). Here's some work from a spread I did for the November / December American Girl Magazine. This issue is on stands now if you want to pick up a copy - you can take the quiz and find out what your party style is! Mine is the baking party - obviously. Quick quiz - take a look at the images and see if you can guess how many of the clothing items I actually own (hint: I do not have pink UGG boots).
Thanks to Kelly Jones of Little Paper Planes my work was featured in the Danish design magazine Bolig. It's very little on the bottom, but you can see my "Live and Let Live" illustration available as a print in the LPP shop.
For fun, and because I haven't created anything monochromatic since college, I wanted to make this visual list! My favorite things about October and Fall are (but not limited to) crunchy leaves, apple cider and apple cider donuts, pumpkin flavored everything, halloween, and cozy clothing. What are your favorite things about Fall?
I completed this project for Chronicle Books last summer - the book has been out for a while but I've never taken the time to share any of the pages online. So here's a quick little preview! If you're interested in buying the book you can visit the Chronicle website. It's really neat and would make a great gift to a kid, or a friend who's into fortune-telling type things. Each page has scratch-off images that reveal your destiny!
Last month I had a few of my past patterns featured in the beautiful publication Oh Comely Magazine, and I'm excited to rejoin as contributor for their upcoming issue. This mix tape pattern will be gracing...well...a mix tape playlist chosen by the magazine, and I have another pattern in the works to accompany a featured recipe.
As part of my blog I thought it would be nice to share a little bit of what I'm up to outside of the art world. As a matter of fact completely opposite to my art interest I love football. This past Sunday my boyfriend Kevin and I went to the big game - Ravens vs. Jets. Of course being from Maryland I'm a big Ravens fan, and it was super fun because we totally won.
Football also equals Fall and this weekend gave us our first real wintery chill. We bundled up and enjoyed a nice night in Baltimore. Although after being out in the cold this weekend I'm not sure how I'll handle the cold in Minneapolis. I don't have much of a choice now though because I move next Thursday. Wowza.
In an effort to draw more food - I started with this. The drawing itself is from an old rejected t-shirt design, but I always liked the layout of it so I wanted to color it for fun. I should probably take my own drawings advice though - because I totally avoid consuming tomatoes, onions, eggplant, and mushrooms at all costs. I am so unhealthy.
